Maptak offers a map and satellite views feed from Google Maps. These satellite views open in a pop-up-window allowing them to be viewed beside any other map on the Maptak.com web site.

Maptak presents the Backstreet Bookshop where users can buy select maps and guidebooks of Costa Rica on-line with a secure internet connection.

Maptak launched a syndicated map service. This service allows subscribers to place a highly detailed vector map of Costa Rica on their own web site by placing a small snippet of code in their HTML code. The maps will be displayed when the subscribers web page is opened. The maps are similar to the Costa Rica map on the Maptak.com web site, but with some important improvements. Subscribers will be issued a Username and Password to access their own account area to see the statistics area and verify their accounts information.

Web pages were added to the Maptak web site for WAP-compatible mobile telephones. To access these pages point your mobile telephone to: maptak.com/cr.wml - Here you will find: area maps, city locator, national park locator, driving tour maps, mosaic map of Costa Rica and useful information such as emergency numbers.

A complete Spanish version of the Maptak web site was placed on line. It can be accessed from the English version homepage. There is also a link from the Spanish home page to the English version of the web site.

Added the AltaVista Babble Fish translation tool to the Maptak home page. This tool enables users to translate the Maptak web site into eight languages. Click on the flag of your choice and the translated page will open in a separate window.

Images on the home page and some interior pages are now active links where possible. Pop up photographs on the city and town maps do not link to anything else as always.

The page Monumento arqueológico Guayabo was added to the web site which includes a diagram of the complex and a slide show presentation of the park.

Because the new slide show requires the Macromedia Flash 6 browser plug-in, the requirements for the entire web site for the Flash plug in was increased from Flash 4 to Flash 6.
