Parque Nacional Volcán Irazú

Description: One of the most visited parks in the nation. Irazú is an active volcano that last erupted in 1963 spewing volcanic ash all over the central valley. The volcanic eruptions enrich the soil in the surrounding countryside. Getting to the summit is easy on a paved road from Cartago. Services include picnic areas, parking area, trails, latrines, information center and miradors.
